Royal Sovereign lightship

I picked up this rather nice postcard on eBay last week for €4.00 (incl.p+p). A modern card produced from a watercolour by P.Chesterton and published as part of the ‘Trinity House Collection’ by Leander, Gravesend, Kent. The Royal Sovereign light vessel station was off the Sussex coast and operated from 1875 until 1971 when it was replaced by a rather ugly lighthouse.

Last week I purchased a second ‘Leander’ postcard on eBay (€3.57), this time of  the South Goodwin lightship, and while not as attractive as the first one I still like it.
